Description:

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced knowledge and experience implementing ISO/IEC 17025 requirements in a calibration laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrated experience performing simple-to-complex or unique one-of-a-kind calibrations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage calibration procedures and uncertainty budgets in accordance with technical and quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of metrology quality assurance and metrology principles and concepts.
  • Knowledge of calibration system/equipment operations and maintenance, metrology calculations, applications of engineering methods to dimensional, electrical, or physical measurements.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Ability to obtain a DOE “Q” Clearance, which normally requires U.S. Citizenship.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR METROLOGY ENGINEER 3:

In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:

  • Experience with the implementation of a new calibration system (from installation to bench operability activities and training of staff).
  • Demonstrated experience in providing solutions to a diverse range of calibration challenges using engineering principles, concepts, and calculations.
  • Experience preparing calibration operations for ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation audits.
  • Expert knowledge of metrology quality assurance and metrology principles and concepts.
  • Advanced experience mentoring less experienced staff.

Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, QE / Quality Assurance (QA), or Industrial Systems Engineering or a related field and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, QE or Industrial Systems Engineering or a related field and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of IndySoft Laboratory Information Management System.
  • Experience preparing for ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and/or implementing an ISO/IEC 17025 calibration laboratory quality program.
  • Demonstrated participation in ISO/IEC 17025 assessments as an Assessor / Lead Assessor.

    Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
    Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
