We manufacture water-efficient products including flush valves, electronic faucets, soap dispensing and sink systems along with vitreous china fixtures for commercial, industrial and institutional markets worldwide.
Flushmate has an immediate openning for a Manager, Manufacturing Engineering and Facilities in our New Hudson, MI facility. The Manager, Manufacturing Engineering and Facilities plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of the maintenance, tooling, and Manufacturing Engineering departments, facilitating efficient manufacturing operations across the organization. They are also responsible for maintaining the building, overseeing the upkeep of equipment and supplies, determining and scheduling repairs or renovation projects, coordinating safety inspections, implementing CapEx projects and proactive review and preventative maintenance of Flushmate and supplier tooling.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the facility is fully operational with all utilities functioning properly. Schedule and supervise maintenance repair work and assist with checking installation and servicing building equipment. Scheduling routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors
  • Analyze and design a lean manufacturing plant layout to optimize use of space, equipment, material and personnel. Perform continuous improvement activities aimed at enhancing safety, efficiency, quality and costs.
  • Collaborate with other departments to review and perform root cause analysis for production and product field issues. Manage the design, establishment of specifications and procurement of standard and specialty equipment and tooling. Ensure tooling and fixturing are functioning per specifications.
  • Maintain an inventory listing of Flushmate and supplier tooling. Regularly coordinate with the supplier a proactive review of tooling condition, repairs and replacements of tools. Conduct routine inspections and audits of all processes and equipment. Develop action plans accordingly.
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators. Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Participate in investigations for insurance claims. Examine materials, technical data to help with root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Critical thinking and analytical proficiency.
  • Demonstrates clear, professional, and respectful verbal and written communication in all interactions, consistent with an inclusive work environment.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Manufacturing Industry experience.
  • Organizational skills with ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Strong business acumen, leadership skills, negotiation skills, conceptual and analytical skills, extensive product knowledge, financial aptitude, and interpersonal effectiveness and decisiveness.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing
  • Industry related experience with manufacturing technologies processes, methods, machining, assembly and company operations, product lines and practices. Maintains a diplomatic, yet firm and detail orientation during interactions with suppliers and strategic partnerships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of plastic injection molding.
