Description:

EDUCATION:

University degree in Computer Science or equivalent or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

EXPERIENCE:

Two (2) years current and direct experience in providing IT hardware and software technical support. Preference will be given to those with current and relevant experience delivering support to commercial/retail operations and to those with applied knowledge and experience with SCCM.

SKILLS:

Excellent analytical skills, good written communications skills.
Excellent oral communication skills to elicit accurate information and respond quickly and efficiently to inquiries, teaching and instructing others in the use of hardware and software systems.
Persuasiveness, working effectively as a member of a team.
Exercising tact and diplomacy, strong service orientation to deal calmly and effectively with people when evaluating, implementing, and modifying computerized systems.
Attending accurately to details, meeting short/long term deadlines, setting priorities, and working effectively under pressure of high volume.
Ability to keep up to date with computer system developments, good organizational skills, maintaining confidentiality.
Ability to install and configure, support and trouble-shoot servers.
Advanced Technical Skills required in MS Windows (XP, 7, 10), MS Word, Excel, Schedulers (ie. Lotus Notes, MS Outlook, Email (ie. Mozilla Thunderbird, Outlook, Lotus Notes), Incident Tracking (ie. Cherwell), Browsers (ie. Firefox, Window IE, Safari, Chrome), Antivirus (ie. TrendMicro), SCCM Remote Tools.
Intermediate Technical Skills required in MAC OS (10.10 to 10.12 x), Conferencing Systems (ie. First Class, WebCT, Zoom), Web Design (ie. Dreamweaver), Communications software (ie. Citrix, Cisco VPN, Multicasting), Active Directory, Citrix, Netowork Print Management, Revrdist PCR Dist., DIP, Picture Taker, D-ploy Centre, SCCM 2007, 2012.
Basic Technical Skills required in Linux, Variety of Languages (ie. Java script, Batch scripting, PHP, HTML, VB scripting, Microsoft Access, Oracle, Microsoft SQL, MS Server (NT to 2003).

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager, Client Technical Services the incumbent provides IT hardware and software technical support for central, and local academic, administrative, teaching spaces and business desktop computer hardware, operating systems and related applications. Support includes the setup and troubleshooting of hardware, software, systems and other related applications and components.
