Our MGP Model of Care was a top 3 finalist in the recent Victorian Public Healthcare Awards. MGP at MDHS is an All Risk antenatal and post-natal model with low risk birthing and supportive collaborative relationships at regional level five services for higher risk women. The model was developed by a Project Governance Committee including representation from Safer Care Victoria, Department of Health, the Australian Nursing & Midwifery Federation, local consumer representation and other local stakeholders.
As MGP at Maryborough approaches It’s second birthday we are celebrating growing booking numbers and would love to share our rewarding way of working across the full scope of midwifery practise with other like-minded midwives.
Our maternity services team is led by a consultant obstetrician and a Maternity Services Coordinator. We have four General Practice Obstetricians that work on a rotating roster. MDHS is geographically located approximately half way between the regional centres of Ballarat and Bendigo.
Maryborough really is the perfect location for any midwife wanting to work across the full scope of midwifery practice, with a varied caseload and fantastic opportunities for professional growth. Strong relationships with higher level regional services mean that you are able to maintain skills by continual exposure to higher acuity settings, while being based in a small, low risk service. MPG midwives will provide care for an allocated case load of women and will collaborate with other healthcare workers to provide care through the continuum of pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period.
The rural location provides the perfect setting for down time away from work, and is easy commuting distance from regional centres and Melbourne.
