Description:

The Women’s, Cardiac, Clinical Support and Sexual Health Services (WCCS) Division is one of four divisions within the Imperial College Healthcare Trust. An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Neonatology Directorate to support the delivery of the human milk banking service to enable the provision of excellent patient care.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated team player to join a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will work closely with Neonatal clinicians, nursing teams as well as families and donors.
The Milk Bank at Queen Charlotte & Chelsea Hospital is the oldest continually running milk bank service in the world. Its core function is to provide safe, pasteurised milk donated by screened healthy women to premature and sick infants, whose own mothers cannot provide breast milk. Milk samples are sent to microbiology services at Charing Cross before and after pasteurisation.
The QCCH Milk Bank provides milk to the two neonatal units in the Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust and aims to grow the service and once again provide donor milk to external Trusts. The post holder will provide an effective and efficient administrative and technical laboratory support service to facilitate the smooth running of the Milk Bank.
We are looking for candidates with high attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. The candidate should be able to work as part of a small but dedicated team. They should have exceptional communication skills necessary for building strong working relationships.
We have one part-time (15 hours) permanent vacancy for a Band 4 Milk Bank Technical and Laboratory Assistant within Neonatology, based at the Queen Charlotte & Chelsea Hospital site.
To provide an effective and efficient administrative and technical service to facilitate the smooth running of the milk bank
To assist with the technical and laboratory service within the milk bank, including donor milk reception, testing and pasteurisation
Ensure that donor milk and all milk samples are appropriately labelled and stored
To input and maintain accurate information on donor and donor milk records
Establish, maintain and monitor excellent office and information systems
Responsible for booking screening tests and assisting with following up results
Ensure excellent quality and customer care skills when liaising with donors, internal and external users
