We have an exciting opportunity for a Mining Engineer to provide technical expertise supporting national quarrying and mining operations. Your mission will be to optimise the value of land and Reserves ensuring long term viability and growth of operations through future Reserve planning. This fantastic role will be based in Doncaster, Melbourne, VIC.

Responsibilities:

IN YOUR NEW ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Conduct a consistent approach to the yearly Reserves and Resources PERC/JORC reporting.
  • Deliver mine/pit planning, optimising stripping, haulage and rehabilitation costs whilst ensuring the mine/pit is extracted and rehabilitated according to these plans.
  • Identify operations with critical shortages of Reserves and support the operation to assess appropriate replacement Reserves.
  • Provide support to the operations with relevant license and permit procedures in line with State legislation.
  • In association with the Regional Geologist, provide technical advice to the operations team during acquisition and greenfield analysis on Reserve quality and quantity, stripping requirements, drilling programs (to prove up Reserves) & geotechnical parameters.
  • Provide geotechnical reviews, assessments and advice to various stakeholders nationally (Open Pit Mining), including the tracking and management specific areas of risk.

THIS ROLE IS A GREAT FIT FOR YOU, IF YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or higher) in Mining Engineering.
  • Registration as a Competent Person for JORC/PERC reporting guidelines would be advantageous.
  • Have experience in quantifying Reserves and Resources.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a quarry or mine.
  • Strong skills in any of the following: Deswik, Surpac or Mine design CAD software.
  • Experience with rehabilitation of mine sites is advantageous.
