About the Role
An exciting Brisbane based opportunity has become available for a Mining Engineer to join our corporate Mine Planning and Scheduling team for Blackwater Mine. Reporting to the Superintendent – Planning & Scheduling, this role will drive a culture of continuous improvement across design and schedule interfaces and will provide technical guidance and insights to short-term mine planning team, mining operations personnel and other key execution stakeholders.
As a Mining Engineer, you will be responsible for developing mine designs and reserves, ensuring efficiency and safety in the excavation processes. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to identify and implement the most efficient mining methods for each area, consistently adding value for our customers.
This is a Brisbane-based position offering exceptional flexibility, with occasional travel to site.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare mine designs to enable the delivery of Budget and 5 Year Plan.
  • Identify and implement the most efficient mining methods for each mining area.
  • Own and maintain Pit Strategy documentation.
  • Contribute to the process outputs as required by our design and reserving standards.
  • Provide technical support to growth projects, including due diligence, assessment of opportunity & risk, and potential integration relating to M&A activities.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive onsite experience across dragline design and planning to support delivery of the Budget and 5 Year Plans.
  • Previous experience in a similar role ideally within an open-cut strip mining environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to articulate technical information accurately and succinctly.
  • Strong understanding and capability in common industry software applications is essential, particularly Deswik and Spry.
