Description:
DESCRIPTION
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Modeling and Simulation Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in our Digital Reactor Technology department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Engineering Research facility with other Friday off.
You will support the Digital Reactor Technology and Development Department in machine learning applications to further the laboratory’s vision to change the world’s energy future. The work is supported by Department of Energy programs (Integrated Energy Systems, Light Water Reactor Sustainability, etc.) and Laboratory directed research and development. You will support the RAVEN (https://github.com/idaholab/raven) and HERON software (https://github.com/idaholab/heron) development efforts. You will apply machine learning algorithms for long-term economic analysis with special consideration for uncertainty in variable renewable energy and energy demand, and complex multi-commodity markets.
QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics, or related engineering field
- Knowledge with machine learning and artificial intelligence (supervised learning, unsupervised learning)
- An understanding of one fields among the following: nuclear reactor related thermohydraulic, safety, and system, reactor physics, fuel performance, electricity market financial modeling and cash flow based financial analysis of complex project.
- Proficiency with object-oriented programming and python
- Demonstrated oral and published written communication skills (in English)
- Knowledge of software management platform ( svn, git etc.)
- Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g. Agile, etc.)
- Experience in working on the development of a large software platform
- Knowledge of reduced order modeling techniques
