Leidos is seeking a Solutions Architect to join the Orlando, FL team and provide technical leadership and for delivering innovative solutions, products, and services in support of artificial intelligence (AI) enhanced modeling and simulation systems/solutions. This position reports to the Modeling, Simulation and Training (MS&T) Portfolio Manager in Orlando, FL. Candidate will have current knowledge and hands on experience with advanced technologies including generative AI, large language models (LLM) and synthetic behavior modeling that support simulation technologies, innovative solution designs within the modeling and simulation industry and is viewed as a subject matter expert by peers within and outside the organization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master of Science degree in computer engineering or similar degree with 20+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • A broad understanding of MS&T and C2 technology, current and emerging artificial intelligence methodologies, with focus on application to synthetic training related to MDO/JADC2 initiatives, including classified systems and customers.
  • Recent leadership experience in DoD customer facing organization(s) where the role directly influenced the direction of AI in support of synthetic training environments and constructs.
  • Well published authorship of papers and briefings demonstrating thought leadership, as well as supporting various collaborative efforts through customer interaction.
  • Extensive background in research and delivery of AI-based, natural language processing and intelligent agents for Computer Generated Forces simulation & training projects and programs.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • US Citizenship is required. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation, must possess a Secret clearance and meet eligibility requirements for a TS/SCI security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD in computer engineering with 20 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Recent experience in architecting MS&T solutions, with emphasis on emerging artificial intelligence simulation and training environments applicable to MDO/JADC2 DoD environments.
  • Recent experience with software architectures, frameworks and SecDevOps practices.
  • Recent experience with Orlando key customers / programs is highly preferred, e.g. service MS&T organizations.
  • Experience leading the development of artificial intelligence supported training solutions for major capture and proposal efforts, balancing these solutions against cost, schedule, function, quality, and other business considerations.
  • Direct experience working with relevant DoD user and acquisition organizations.
  • Experience in support of and participation in transition of programs from capture/proposal to execution.
  • Experience engaging in business development and capture efforts in the role of Solution Architect.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development of MS&T concepts and capabilities to be incorporated into simulation solutions and offerings applicable across defense operational domains with initial emphasis on AI support to behavior generation, training support/development, sensor feed integration, and high-fidelity terrain integration, with further customer initiatives to achieve Army, Navy and broad DoD objectives. A key focus prioritizes MS&T functionality to be developed via both internal and customer funded research efforts, consistent with emerging DoD AI initiatives. Long-term emphasis is on scaled, distributed software-based simulation solutions applied in both training and operational scenarios.
  • Assists in vision development to defined solutions fusing Leidos’ and partners’ C2, MS&T, and related (e.g. Trusted AI/ML) capabilities that advance Leidos’ ability to anticipate and deliver DoD-wide MDO initiatives into practical operational solutions.
  • Represents Decision Advantage Solutions (DAS) in enterprise-wide efforts aligned with the role, to ensure that MS&T is incorporated into Leidos’ AI Accelerator approach and how MS&T enables AI enhanced CI/CD software development models for complex operational systems.
  • Works to secure cross-organization buy-in on solutions that move from current practices toward agreement/acceptance of new concepts, practices, and approaches.
  • Works with technical staff and business development personnel to understand customer needs; leads development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results.
  • Performs technical execution leadership and development on a combination of customer and internally funded programs and research projects.
  • Aligns solutions to the technical investment vision of the MDS Division and Decision Advantage Solutions under the direction of the operations CTO.
  • Works to secure cross-organization buy-in for solutions that move from current practices toward agreement/acceptance of new concepts, practices, and approaches.
