Modelling Analyst
AGL is in an exciting time of transition, delivery and growth.
You will be part of a high achieving team which undertakes commercial analysis, provides specialist financial modelling support and advice, and is called upon to solve challenges in AGL’s Customer Markets’ business. Key stakeholders include business development leads, project and product owners, project engineers and finance counterparts.

About the Role

This role will focus on providing modelling, valuation and commercial expertise to support commercial development and product innovation of decarbonisation solutions for business customers in AGL’s Commercial and Industrial Customers team. Key skills of the successful applicant include:

  • Financial modelling: project modelling and analysis; supporting key stakeholders in the development of business cases; and providing best practice financial modelling expertise across the organization.
  • Valuations: producing business case valuations; project evaluation and governance to support investment decision making; and providing valuation guidance across the business.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Prepare, manage and review integrated financial models that are consistent with best practice principles.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to derive key assumptions and source inputs, conduct stress tests and scenario analysis, forecast performance and cash flow, and align outcomes with long-term industry outlooks.
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to guide stakeholders in key business decisions for AGL and business customers, and derive insights into business and industry trends.
  • Derive and report on key financial reporting measures at an asset or enterprise level associated with performance, investment return and sources of financing.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for key stakeholders including executive team members.
  • Extract financial information from AGL Group’s data systems for use in financial models.

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience and training in best practice financial modelling. Ability to understand, build and navigate through complex financial models. High competency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Broad understanding of valuation methodologies and corporate finance theory.
  • High numerical ability and commercial awareness with attention to detail.
  • Ability to critically analyse problems, challenge assumptions, and derive solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret large data sets and present in concise relevant detail.
  • Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in the modelling division of a Big 4 or equivalent consultancy practice as an Analyst or Senior Analyst (preferred, not essential).
