Monitoring and Observability Engineer
Salary: £90,000 – £100,000 – Hybrid working – 2 days per week in Tower Hill
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Monitoring and Observability Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. As a Monitoring and Observability Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our IT systems. Your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and manage performance monitoring solutions, analyse system performance data, and collaborate with other teams to address performance-related issues. The ideal candidate is passionate about optimizing system performance, has a strong analytical mindset, and is adept at implementing effective monitoring strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Design and Implement Performance Monitoring Solutions:
- Develop and implement comprehensive performance monitoring solutions for IT systems, including servers, networks, databases, and applications.
- Configure monitoring tools to collect and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure optimal system performance.
- Analyse System Performance:
- Conduct regular performance analysis to identify bottlenecks, trends, and areas for improvement.
- Utilize performance data to troubleshoot issues and provide recommendations for optimization.
- Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams:
- Work closely with system administrators, developers, and other IT teams to understand application architectures and system dependencies.
- Collaborate to address performance-related issues and implement solutions.
- Alerting and Incident Response:
- Configure alerting thresholds and mechanisms to proactively identify and respond to performance anomalies.
- Participate in incident response activities to troubleshoot and resolve performance-related incidents promptly.
- Performance Optimization:
- Recommend and implement optimizations to improve system performance, including code enhancements, infrastructure adjustments, and resource tuning.
- Conduct capacity planning to ensure systems can handle anticipated growth.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of performance monitoring configurations, procedures, and analysis reports.
- Generate and present regular reports on system performance trends and recommendations for improvement.
- Stay Updated on Industry Trends:
- Stay informed about emerging technologies, tools, and best practices related to performance monitoring.
- Continuously improve monitoring strategies based on industry trends and evolving business needs.
Qualifications:
– Proven experience as a Performance Monitoring Engineer or a similar role.
– Strong expertise in performance monitoring tool Dynatrace and solutions.
– Strong expertise in Dynatrace scripting language (DQL)
– Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure Cloud
– In-depth knowledge of system architecture, infrastructure components, and application frameworks.
– Proficient in scripting and automation for monitoring purposes.
– Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
– Strong communication and collaboration skills.
– Relevant certifications (e.g., Performance Testing, Monitoring, or Cloud certifications) are a plus.
