Summary:
Develop strong, productive working relationships with your Filo co-workers. As a trusted compliance analyst to various departments, maintain a strong grasp of the evolving business model, processes, systems, and associated controls; propose and influence positive change in these areas.
Ensure mortgage process is compliant with governing regulations, including ECOA, RESPA, TILA, USA PATRIOT Act, HMDA, ATR, QM, HOEPA, Escrow, TRID, BSA/AML guidelines.
Monitor and escalate as warranted all open compliance and QC findings until satisfactorily resolved. Prepare reports for senior management on the results and performance of the Compliance Program. Make recommendations to improve processes, lessen risks to the business, and improve future audit results.
Liaise with Senior Management on developments in State and Federal laws, regulations and policies that could impact the business, including industry best practices related to policy & procedures, consumer protection and data security and privacy. Filo is a rapidly growing company who needs people eager to jump in and contribute.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Continually evaluates methods, processes, and risks, submitting a report at month end summary of findings.
  • Assist in updating mortgage operation procedures as a result of any examination/audit findings.
  • Review 10% of loans pre-close for compliance with State and Federal regulations and completeness and accuracy of documents.
  • Review of 10% of post- closed loan packages monthly for compliance with State and Federal regulations and completeness and accuracy of documents.
  • Complete a HMDA scrub of previous months closed loans by the 15th of each month using the “Getting It Right” guide for support of an accurate LAR.
  • Participate in gathering and reviewing documentation and loans files requested for State Examinations.
  • Maintain a Spreadsheet of unintended consequences or self-identified violations, documenting both dates identified and cured, reporting to management at month end.
  • Assign and track results of implemented changes to assess the level of continued compliance with all external and internal policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a training log of company provided training and training taken independently by coworkers providing to management at month end.
  • Work with senior management to analyze examination requests endeavoring to provide requested items in advance of due dates.
  • Maintain metrics regarding examination request responsiveness. Schedule and facilitate meetings between departments as needed.
  • Maintain share drive, centralized repository of regulatory inquiries, examination requests and responses, reports of examination and any examination matters requiring attention.
  • Provide regular examination status reports to senior management. Communicate examination findings and trends to applicable business units.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management regarding the examination status. Communicate examination findings, and aid in the facilitation of Response Letters.
  • Prioritize, distribute, and track initial and subsequent examination requests.
  • Establish a cadence of preparation meetings with appropriate departments in advance of an examination.
  • Prepare daily reporting of TRID loans pending initial disclosure and ensure timely and compliant disclosure of all loans.
  • Complete valid Change of Circumstance requests daily, notating the loan file upon completion.
  • Provide input to and assist in coordination of exam management meetings as needed.
  • Provide external auditor reporting working with departments for timely resolution of findings, generating month end reports to provide department managers and Senior Management adhering to agency required cadence of 30/60/90.
  • Prepare reporting requests for Senior Management.
  • Regularly assess examination process and make changes to support enhanced regulatory expectations.
  • Keep current with emerging regulatory topics and best practices, disseminating this information across the appropriate business units.
  • Other duties and special assignments as requested by management.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • CMCP/Certified Mortgage Compliance Professional or obtain within 6 months.
  • Experience working for a Mortgage lender and lender processes and workflow.
  • Experience with State Exams, External Auditors and HMDA LAR
  • Ability to manage TRID Disclosures and Change of Circumstance Pipeline ensuring compliant disclosures.
  • Excellent organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent listening ability and presentation skills.
  • Meet deadline requirements in a fast-paced environment and work independently.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Computer Skills, i.e. word, excel. commensurate with industry experience
