Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Our Transportation Department is growing and is looking for a Motorcycle Technician Instructor for our Motorcycle Apprenticeship and Pre-Employment Programs. This is a full-time sessional position with opportunity for Tenure Track with favorable evaluations and budget starting August 15th, 2024, to August 14th, 2025. The Ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years in the trade as a journeyperson, a strong interest in helping students achieve their goals and be able to share their interest in this trade with those students.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Prepare and present classes in both theory and practical settings.
  • Organize and supervise practical assignments.
  • Conduct student evaluations
  • Maintain necessary paperwork
  • Participate in course, recruitment and curriculum development.

Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

  • Ability to apply different instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with different learning styles.
  • Knowledge of NWP courses and current educational technologies commonly found in classrooms (e.g., videoconferencing, D2L) are desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, specifically one who is willing to take a risk to create opportunities.
  • Highly qualified faculty, who seek to continuously improve instruction and meet the need of learners.
  • Willingness to work with and support the Teaching & Learning Centre.
  • Willingness to work with and support Recruitment events and projects.
  • Student-focused.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across the organization.
