Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) are looking for a Systems Administrator - MQ-28 Integration Lab (MIL). The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting MQ-28 Integration Lab ICT and network infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of network protocols, security measures, and system administration best practices. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams. In addition to this primary role you will have opportunities to support the Ground Control System at Amberley and other operating locations.
This role is based in Brisbane with opportunities to support operations at Amberley and elsewhere.
As a MIL Systems Administrator within BDA, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software components, including routers, switches and firewalls.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary solutions to ensure optimal network availability and performance.
- Perform regular network security assessments and implement appropriate measures to protect against unauthorised access, data breaches, and other security threats.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network infrastructure upgrades and expansions.
- Manage network user accounts, permissions, and access rights, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular backups of network data and develop disaster recovery plans to minimise downtime in the event of system failures or disasters.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in network administration, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, troubleshooting network-related issues and resolving them in a timely manner.
- Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to maintain an up-to-date knowledge base for the team.
- Conduct short term deployments to Amberley and other operational sites to provide support the MQ-28 Ground Control System and Simulators.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- You must hold a minimum NV1 clearance to be considered for the role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a System Administrator or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and VLAN.
- Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Familiarity with network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access control lists.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices, such as routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Solid understanding of network infrastructure design principles and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve network-related issues efficiently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical support to end-users.
- Relevant certifications, such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), are a plus
