Description:

SUMMARY

Collins Aerospace is looking for an MRB (Material Review Board) Stress Engineer to support Operations by analyzing the structural integrity of landing gear components that depart from the approved design requirements. You will have an opportunity to work with, see and have hands on experience with the various landing gear systems for commercial and military programs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 1 year stress analysis experience
  • Experience with external loads, load paths and free body diagrams.
  • Structural course work with an emphasis on analytical courses.
  • Experience with analysis of structures
  • Experience with FEA tools such as PATRAN, NASTRAN and/or ABAQUS.
  • Basic GD&T skills to interpret 2D and 3D drawings
  • Eligible to work in Canada; Successful candidates must meet all requirements under ITAR & CCGP

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship, Co-Op, design projects etc. experience
  • 2-5 years experience in landing gear structural analysis
  • Working knowledge of CATIA V5
  • Working knowledge of FAA and EASA certification requirements
  • Good understanding of aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Liaise with MRB engineers to evaluate non-conforming material in production that have an impact to the structural integrity of landing gear components on commercial and military programs.
  • Perform strength, stability, residual strength, fatigue, and fracture analyses of detail design of landing gear structural components using both computer modeling and classical calculation methods.
  • Construct and analyze finite element structural models.
  • Prepare detailed stress reports.
  • Review drawings with other company disciplines and provide structures input.
  • Review design and drawing changes with other company disciplines and provides structures input.
  • Prepare test plans by determining the requirements for laboratory and full-scale testing.
  • Review test results and correlate with analytical models. Evaluate test results that may impact the design or require a design improvement.
  • Analyze structural repairs for landing gear and flight control structural components
  • Perform work assignments with minimum supervision.
  • Perform research in such fields as failure analysis, finite elements, and fracture mechanics.
  • Perform other duties as required
