A Band 6 MSK Specialist Physiotherapist makes a difference every day to the people of Northamptonshire. As a Trust, we are proud of our Specialist Physiotherapist’s who demonstrate advanced assessment and management skills within the field of musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, supporting both patients and family members alike with regards to ongoing management of their presenting complaint.
We are looking for MSK Specialist Physiotherapist with a passion for high quality care and excellent communication to work within our countywide MSK Physiotherapy Team with excellent support and development.
The post holder is expected to be responsible for providing high quality specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients with complex musculoskeletal conditions, to include prioritising referrals, managing a full caseload of neuro-musculoskeletal patients and supporting the training and development of other team members.
We can also offer an in-depth band 5-6 competency development programme should the successful applicant require further knowledge and skills prior to becoming a band 6.

Our MSK Physiotherapy service treats a wide range of MSK conditions such as: spinal, peripheral, orthopedic, rheumatological, chronic pain, sports and MSK injuries and dysfunctions as well as pelvic health. We receive referrals directly from patients, GP’s, First Contact Practitioners and Consultants .
As a MSK Specialist Physiotherapist, you will
Manage a full caseload of neuro-musculoskeletal patients
Provide bespoke, individualised treatment programmes that are patient centered and goal specific
Be professionally accountable for the delivery of care
Utilise technology to enable you to update records as you go
Delegate treatment plans to Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioners
Provide regular supervision to Junior Staff
Actively participate in your own regular supervision with senior colleagues
Support Student Physiotherapists whilst on placement within the service
Participate and contribute to in-service training programmes
Participate in audit and service development projects
Work with MSK Physiotherapy colleagues across the county to ensure service delivery is optimal, high quality and accessed in a timely fashion
Must have skills
You will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to work well within a team. You will be adaptable and resourceful. You will also need to be well organised, confident and able to manage in diverse situations to deliver patient care. Leadership and management skills are also important, as with all Physiotherapy roles, rapport building, problem solving and good judgement are crucial. Asking for help and support, acknowledging your own limits are critical and we would like to support you in these areas to aid your professional development.
You will be part of dynamic, driven and caring team and be able to work flexibly, with the ability to prioritise work based on the patient need and service capacity.
