Description:
Duties/Pligte
- Planning, preparing for, and arranging photo, video, and audio productions;
- Preparing scripts and questions aligned to communication goals;
- Shooting and/ or recording planned photos, videos, and audio productions;
- Shooting and/ or recording in the moment photos, videos (long and short form), and sound bites to accompany written pieces, social media posts, press releases, or other communication outputs;
- Editing and performing post-production on photos, videos, and audio to make them publication ready;
- Cutting and re-editing videos and audio for different channels and formats, specifically social media;
- Working with the multimedia content producer on productions;
- Managing consent for photographing people and model releases;
- Storing and archiving photos, videos, and audio appropriately for future use, including adding metadata and storing in the correct format;
- Caring for and maintaining equipment;
- Assisting with queries for photos and video footage from the divisional library;
- Supporting implementation of a digital asset management system (DAM);
- Giving advice on approaches to photo, video, and audio production aligned to desired communication outcomes;
- Collaborating with writers, media officers, and communication management on integrating visual storytelling to enhance communication efforts;
- Providing a professional service and producing excellent photos, videos, and audio;
- Ensuring alignment and synergy between written and visual communication;
- Keeping abreast of and applying trends to photography, videography, and audio production, as well as to visual storytelling in general.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification at NQF 7 in journalism, photography, videography, or multimedia production;
- At least five years’ experience in videography and photography or multimedia journalism;
- Excellent videography, photography, production, and post-production skills;
- Proven experience in scriptwriting, visual storytelling, and capturing visual content for social media;
- Good writing skills in English;
- Experience in journalism or media liaising;
- The ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team;
- A clear communicator with good interpersonal skills;
- Meticulous, detail-orientated, and self-motivated;
- The ability to prioritise and manage time effectively for oneself and projects;
- The ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation;
- Good organisational and planning skills;
- Extremely professional with high personal standards, with the ability to produce work of a superior quality;
- Creative, visual thinker.
Recommendation/Aanbeveling
- A qualification in communication;
- Experience in audio production (such as podcasts, radio, sound bites);
- Graphic design or animation skills.
