Description:

Randstad is excited to partner with a leading Engineering Firm in Burlginton, ON in their search for a Municipal Design Engineer. The Municipal Design Engineer will work to complete design calculations based on engineering principles for various municipal development projects. Some examples of projects include the design of municipal corridors, watermains, center line alignments, roadways, Hydraulic modeling, and infrastructure flood plain mapping. This role will be responsible for designing and coordinating in the areas of planning, execution and delivery of projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.)
  • 5 years minimum of related work experience, specifically with Municipal development projects
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable software including HEC-2/HEC-RAS, GAWSER, MIDUSS, OTTHYMO, XPSSWMM, and MS Office Suite
  • Strong knowledge of underground servicing, municipal road design and water resources principles
  • Experience with preliminary and final design of roads, bridges and municipal Facilities
  • Experience developing servicing, grading and drainage designs
  • Strong technical report writing
  • Experience with agency approvals and permitting
  • Experience with using Civil 3D and AutoCAD as a design tool

Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive engineering design for diverse municipal development ventures
  • Produce blueprint and cross-sectional schematics for municipal infrastructure, particularly municipal road networks
  • Devise layouts for municipal passages, water conduits, central axis arrangements, and operational road systems
  • Conduct hydraulic modeling of water bodies such as creeks and rivers, alongside floodplain delineation for infrastructure
  • Design across water conduits, sanitary systems, and storm sewers
  • Determine the appropriate dimensions for sanitary and stormwater management structures, alongside conducting SWM designs and water equilibrium evaluations
  • Collaborate with municipal personnel, contractors, the public, and equipment providers
  • Draft technical design documentation and internal communications
  • Attend and engage in project team gatherings, ensuring smooth coordination for prompt project deliveries
