Description:

This is a full-time, continuing Safety and Security position on the Oberlin College Campus, reporting to the Assistant Director of Safety and Security and holds the internal rank of Museum Security Officer.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least 19 years of age with a valid Ohio Driver’s license and driving record, which passes College insurability standards. High school diploma or GED. Prior experience in security, public safety, law enforcement or protective services. No criminal record. Must be able and willing to work flexible hours and days during the week and on the weekends and be available on relatively short notice, and for additional coverage for extracurricular Museum events. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills (a writing sample will be required during the interview). Must be able to supply favorable references. Must demonstrate the ability to interact in a sensitive, courteous and understanding way with members of a diverse residential and academic community and the general public; the ability to handle several projects simultaneously and to maintain composure in emergency situations; and the ability to work in a team setting to provide a safe and secure environment.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or related field. Consideration will be given for related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with art museums and overall museum protocol.
Any offer made is contingent upon a pre-employment physical, drug test and satisfactory completion of a comprehensive background investigation.

Responsibilities:

The incumbent will have general responsibility for life and property protection in the Allen Memorial Art Museum, and provide emergency and general public safety services to the Museum’s facilities, staff, and patrons.
