Description:

SUMMARY

We are currently looking for an Accountant with high attention to detail and time management skills to join our team on a permanent, year round basis. Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant is responsible for assisting the Controller in managing all financial aspects of the company’s corporate operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a 4-year degree in Business, Marketing, or similar considered an asset.
  • Class 5 Drivers License required.
  • Experience within the road construction industry considered an asset.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in finance/ business development.
  • Beginner to intermediate Microsoft Office skills in Excel, Word, Project, Lync, Publisher, and Outlook.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • High attention to detail, including writing, editing and proof reading.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in month end procedures, expensing prepaids, intercompany invoicing, AR reporting, booking accruals and making entries as needed.
  • Prepare month end summary documents and assist the Controller with month end closings and review with operations personnel.
  • Preparing and upkeeping the subcontractor payment list 2-3 times per month.
  • Consult and collaborate with other members of the company to troubleshoot issues and identify potential improvements.
  • Managing and reconciling balance sheet account and reviewing them for accuracy.
  • Managing the intercompany process and ensuring we’re in balance with our sister companies every month end.
  • Create any reports requested that will aid in the understanding of job data and analysis and assist in improving construction data inputs in order to improve report outputs.
  • Assist the equipment department with posting of hours.
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
  • Participate as an integral member of the team, and contribute towards the success of the organization, which may involve the provision of other technical and administrative support, as required.
  • Collaborate with project teams on other special initiatives, as required.
