Description:
We would like to invite applications from dynamic, motivated, innovative and efficient registered nurses with expert skills and knowledge in safeguarding to join our Integrated Safeguarding Team as the Named Nurse for Adults. This is a newly developed post following restructure within the team.
Supporting the Head of Integrated Safeguarding, and working alongside the Named Nurse for Children, Named Midwife and Lead Nurse for Mental Health, Learning Disability and Neurodiversity, The Named Nurse for Adults will lead and inspire the integrated safeguarding team and drive delivery of the safeguarding adult’s agenda.
The Named Nurse for Safeguarding Adults provides leadership, clinical advice and expertise on all matters pertaining to safeguarding adults, for staff across the Trust. The Named Nurse is a senior member of the Trust integrated safeguarding team, providing direct management and support within the team whilst promoting a ‘think family ‘approach to safeguarding across the Trust.
This role will be to support the daily operational management of the team, undertake statutory duties as a Named Nurse, act as a role model of exemplary practice to team members and deputise when required for the Head of Integrated Safeguarding.
The role is full time working Monday to Friday. The Integrated Safeguarding Team are based on site at Tameside General Hospital.
THE NAMED NURSE WILL:
- work with the Chief and Deputy Chief Nurse, Head of Safeguarding, Named Nurse Safeguarding Children, Named Midwife , Lead Nurse for Mental Health, Learning Disability and Neurodiversity and the Named Consultant for Safeguarding Adults to support strategic planning and service development relating to the protection and welfare of adults.
- be a highly visible nurse leader, providing specialist knowledge, advice, and clinical expertise to staff in the Trust in all areas of safeguarding adults.
- lead on the domestic abuse strategy for the T r ust, ensuring compliance with legislation and national and local procedures.
- work collaboratively with the wider multi-agency team and partner organization’s to ensure adults who come into contact with the Trust are safeguarded and their welfare promoted
- attend and represent the Trust at the Tameside Adult Safeguarding Partnership Board subgroups.
- undertake various levels of investigation and reviews for safeguarding both within the Trust and externally in line with local safeguarding procedures.

Have responsibility for the operations of the safeguarding service and will take the lead in the day-to-day management of the service, ensuring a responsive service for safeguarding across the trust footprint.

Deputise for the Head of Integrated Safeguarding within the Trust and wider Safeguarding Partnership when required
Work as a member of the Nursing and Integrated Governance Unit /Corporate team, supporting an overall understanding of the safety and quality of the care provided by the Trust
Undertake training and leadership and management training to enable you to fulfil the requirements of Named Nurse role
Being part of the safeguarding leadership structure for the integrated safeguarding service, support both new and existing staff to gain/develop safeguarding knowledge, skills and expertise
Work closely with the Head of Integrated Safeguarding to ensure that the Trust meets its statutory, contractual, and regulatory responsibilities in safeguarding adults.
Be responsible for areas of the portfolio as identified and delegated by the Head of Integrated Safeguarding.
