About the Role
We’ve partnered with a market leader in the general merchandise and consumer products category to find a National Business Development Manager to join their growing sales team in Melbourne. As a National Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s growth trajectory.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will be responsible for driving our client’s business development initiatives on a national scale, with a primary focus on expanding key retail and major grocery accounts, forging strategic partnerships, and maximising revenue opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies to build relationships with key retail and major grocery customers.
  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities through leveraging existing/previous retail or major grocery relationships, market research, networking, and relationship building.
  • Collaborate with other key members of the sales team and other departments within the company to develop sales strategies and achieve sales goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers from an established portfolio of accounts.
  • Prepare and present reports on sales performance, pipeline development, and market insights to senior management including the CEO and National Sales Manager..

About You

  • Proven track record of success and experience in B2B sales, business development or account management roles within general merchandise, consumer products or FMCG.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and credibility with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Previous business development or account management experience selling into Coles, Woolworths, Aldi or Costco is highly regarded.Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce or a related field is desirable.
