Description:

- Brisbane preferred. All other Bureau capital city office locations will be considered.
The Australian Government is investing $230 million over the next 10 years in flood warning infrastructure in Australia’s highest flood risk areas. This investment will enable the Bureau to simplify ownership and maintenance of high-priority flood warning assets through the acquisition, upgrade and integration of more than 500 key local government-owned, and some state government-owned rain and river level gauges into its existing flood warning network across Australia.
The Bureau seeks an experienced individual to lead the development and execution of a range of delivery plans for the Flood Warning Infrastructure Network (FWIN) Program. This includes:
- establishing delivery strategies for each state and territory, ensuring they align with the approved scope, while also allowing for adaptability with jurisdictional priorities and timely response to external events
- integrating a range of existing Bureau services with FWIN delivery, recognising the extent to which FWIN can support these services while also ensuring outcomes align with the program deliverables
- leading the drafting of business cases for the FWIN program
- provide strategic planning, oversight and coordination of the Bureau’s national emergency sector committees
Reporting to the General Manager, FWIN, you will draw on expertise from across FWIN and other Bureau Programs, to develop coordinated policy positions, strategies and business cases to support the program delivery.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to and shape the work of the Bureau of Meteorology and the emergency response capacity of the nation.
