Description:
Transpower owns and operates New Zealand’s National Grid, the High Voltage transmission network connecting areas of generation with towns and cities across New Zealand.

Responsibilities:
- Controlling the real-time operation of national grid assets including operation of the HVDC link
- Managing asset availability to the System Operator for planned and unplanned outages, in line with the Grid Owner’s CODE compliance obligations
- Managing unplanned event communications and reporting (customers, Police, Electricity Authority, and other Transpower groups)
- Monitoring via national SCADA, grid asset status and ensuring they are operated within their rated capability
- Controlling core grid and regional equipment independently as and when required for safety and asset health reasons
- Maintaining effective relationships both internally and with customers (line companies, generators, and direct connects), and service provider
