KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering, or business degree in operations management. Minimum of diploma or graduate degree or demonstrated equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in high-pressure pipeline operations and legal procedures.
  • Experience in the petroleum industry or related field
  • Knowledge and interpretation of pipeline codes and regulations including, AS 2885, Dangerous Goods, Critical Infrastructure and MHF regulations
  • Competent in dealing with Government officers, Regulators and key stakeholders
  • Exposure and coordination of emergency response situations
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Analytical and problem solving skills

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We have a rare full-time opportunity for a National Pipelines Manager to administer the operations, compliance and maintenance activities for pipelines and associated infrastructure to ensure Ampol’s legal, regulatory and reporting requirements.
The position’s main objective is to maintain safe and reliable operation of pipelines by monitoring and interpreting pipeline standards and regulatory changes with operational and non-operational pipeline assets to ensure compliance to AS2885. These assets will include the Sydney to Newcastle pipeline system, Kurnell to Banksmeadow Terminal and the Jet A1 pipeline to the Sydney Airport JFI. Meaning flexibility will be required by the ideal candidate to travel and mobilize across all these areas in Greater Sydney and Newcastle to ensure pipeline communication systems are continually operational and licensed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain all Ampol’s licensed pipelines to remain operational and compliant with the relevant State legislation. This role is recognised by the regulator as the Person in Charge (PIC) and coordinates activities of one direct report.
  • Manage and maintain pipeline easements and agreements for dual carriageway easements for all pipelines.
  • Management all 3rd party enquiries to control threats to operational and non-operational pipeline assets for the prevention of accidental or intentional environmental or safety related events.
  • Manage SAPPM, all planned and reactive pipeline related operations and maintenance (Inspection, Testing and Servicing) of operational and non-operational pipelines including associated equipment and gear. This includes oversight of all maintenance and specialist contractors in accordance with Ampol policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and maintain current service level agreements for all pipeline related goods and services including, contractor performance management, contracting and consulting labour in strict accordance with the procurement policy.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline data in government database for NSW pipelines.
  • Maintain effective consultation, communication and engagement with key stakeholders, regulatory authorities, councils, emergency services, community and residents along pipeline easements to safeguard the pipelines operation, continued service and easement/agreement conditions.
  • Facilitation and Management of the National Pipeline governance group.
  • Facilitation and participation in annual Pipeline audits to ensure license and regulatory compliance is maintained.
