  • Academic Req: Required – bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences, human services, or social services; Preferred – master’s degree in behavioral sciences, human services, or social services.

Certifications: First aid, CPR, Emergency behavior intervention
Work experience: Required – At least three (3) years of progressive employment experience in the aforementioned fields that demonstrate supervisory and case management experience; Preferred – Child welfare experience and experience working with immigrant populations
Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables:
1. Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position.
2. Identify trends and training needs and develops trainings with the Mental Health Specialist and the National Program Director.
3. In consultation with the Mental Health Specialist make decisions affecting the safety and permanency children served and provides guidance to the national team.
4. Monitor cases to ensure staff engage each child and the family/sponsor in the caseload.
5. Monitor cases to ensure that children progress toward risk reduction and achieve treatment goals and positive case outcomes.
6. Monitor staff records, files, form, statistics, and information in the children’s records comply with agency, federal and state standards, and requirements.
7. Participate in scheduled meetings, in-service training, and team decisions.
8. Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by position supervisor.
9. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
10. Maintain Compass Connections System professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in Compass Connections System employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, children, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Oversees the Safety Specialist and serves as part of the National Safety Team.
2. Participates in case staffing’s with the national team, along with the mental health specialist.
3. Oversees all federal reporting, as it relates to Notices of Concerns and OTIP referrals.
4. Elevates all reports related to minors in crisis and ensures comprehensive safety plans are in place for all unaccompanied children identified.
5. The NSO has outstanding proficiency in various aspects of operations within Post Release and Home Study Services Program, including ensuring all external and internal reporting is completed according to federal requirements.
6. Meets all deadlines required by and federal partners.
Requirements:
1. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
2. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
3. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks.
4. Demonstrate the ability to:
a. Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
b. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish.
c. Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals.
d. Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
e. Organize and prioritize responsibilities and duties efficiently.
f. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
g. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
