JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety, Compliance and Wellness, the Health and Safety Manager will lead a team of 5 state based Health and Safety Business Partners to deliver the health and safety objectives set out in the business’s Health and Safety strategy.
We are seeking a down to earth, proactive leader with a robust understanding of Health & Safety and Rail Safety requirements within the Australian rail industry. The ideal candidate will have a focus on continuous improvement and also bring lead auditor experience, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards specific to Australia.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing national workplace health and safety policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and standards pertaining to workplace health and safety
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and the ability to conduct thorough risk assessments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven track record in delivering effective health and safety training programs
  • Experience in managing health and safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends to drive continuous improvement
  • Relevant qualifications in occupational health and safety or a related field
  • Ability to lead a team, providing guidance, support, and direction towards achieving health and safety objectives
  • A proactive approach to promoting a positive health and safety culture within the workplace
