Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Natural Gas Scheduler Summer Student located in Calgary, Alberta until Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
This summer student job opportunity has a targeted duration 4-months, beginning on May, 2024.

As a part of Chevron Midstream, Supply and Trading (S&T) operates Chevron’s global supply and trading business. S&T is the commercial link to the market for Upstream and Downstream & Chemicals (DS&C). Gas Supply & Trading (GSAT) applies its knowledge of commodity markets and transportation logistics in the natural gas markets to maximize the value of enterprise assets and enable the commercial success of Upstream and DS&C. GSAT Natural Gas sells natural gas to support Chevron’s North America Upstream (CNAEP) operations and purchases and supplies natural gas to support DS&C’s refineries, CNAEP operations and Chevron’s Power business. GSAT leverages their market knowledge and trading capabilities to capture commercial opportunities across the entire value chain through commercial functional excellence. The scope of this role fits within this framework as follows:

  • Responsible for daily prep on market positions, therefore must be in office at 6:00AM.
  • Primarily responsible for nominations and movement on assigned pipelines as well as backup responsibilities for others.
  • Major duties include but are not limited to the optimization of transportation contracts and storage nominations.
  • Responsible for updating internal systems on a timely basis and providing timely and accurate production volumes to Traders and Accountants.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide day-to-day scheduling and operations for trading teams; activities including interactions with operations to understand production forecast, daily volume tracking, and intraday volume balancing.
  • Monthly duties include accruals, actuals, and sox controls on production sold.
  • Manage nominations for pipeline and storage.
  • Work closely with traders to manage physical inventory positions.
  • Analyze data and produce ad-hoc reports for the trading team as necessary.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders and builds strong relationships and lines of communication.
  • Back up NGL Scheduler when coverage is required.
  • Support optimization initiatives and best practices, including advancing digital initiatives and process improvements.
  • Champion incident-free operations and continuous improvement.

Special Considerations:

  • This is a natural gas scheduler position based in Calgary.
  • Work Hours must be 6:00AM – 3:00PM (market opens at 6:30AM)
  • Friday 9/80 is available, monthly accounting calendar may impact.

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s degrees in Business or Mathematics.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.

Flexible Work:

  • We offer alternative work schedules including 9/1 (work 8.33-hour days, with every other Friday off); monthly accounting calendar may impact the schedule.
