Ready for a new and exciting career opportunity reporting directly into the UK Naval Quality Leader, collaborating with a strong and diverse project team engaged in solving exciting challenges within our Naval Projects portfolio.
This role will require both hands on and office-based engagement, with duties that vary month to month, dependent on the status of the projects, customer interaction and issue resolution.
This role is based at our Rugby (Warwickshire) facility, where travel to our supply chain and other locations can be expected.
The Naval Supplier Quality Engineer, supporting New Build, Spares & Services, will be responsible to drive product qualification activities, support part and documentation quality activities at suppliers, organize witness/surveillance inspection and manage nonconformities and quality improvement projects within the supply base for the assigned product scope.
His / her main internal stakeholders will be the Naval Project Quality and Procurement teams as well as the wider Project and Engineering Management teams. This role will initiate and execute supplier development activities and assure suppliers quality performance that will allow for successful execution of procurement strategy and meet customer expectations on quality, cost and lead time.
As a Naval Supplier Quality Engineer, you must be self-motivated, have superb attention to detail and be able to organize workload with minimal supervision.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Formal technical and / or quality qualification or practical manufacturing experience.
• Significant experience in Steam Turbine and / or Generator Business.
• Significant experience in a combination of Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and Supply Chain environments.
• 8D problem resolution, FMEA and other related quality methodologies.

• Work with procurement teams to define / agree / communicate to all stakeholders a roadmap for supplier development activities, identifying the SQ tasks to ensure the right supply chain performance to meet business objectives.
• Execute activities to drive quality, delivery and compliance excellence within the supply base for the assigned product scope. These activities will include: -
• Supplier on-boarding and qualification:
• Assess suppliers Quality Management System through audits, including Nuclear Safety aspects as applicable.
• Assess suppliers manufacturing capability through a Technical Assessment (Manufacturing Process Audit).
• Record related actions plans and approve qualification requests in the supplier database.
• Supplier assessment and development:
• Attend pre-award meetings with suppliers and Sourcing/Engineering to agree on quality control requirements.
• Initiate and contribute to the Supplier Performance Rating process.
• Initiate and manage supplier development actions and Quality improvement plans.
• Supplier surveillance and inspection:
• Ensure readiness for kick-off meeting with dedicated checklist.
• Organize the kick-off & pre-inspection meetings with suppliers and relevant GE representatives.
• Review supplier quality documentation (ITPL, control procedures, test procedures etc.).
• Coordination of the Inspection & Test Time Schedule (ITTS).
• Schedule & perform the surveillance inspections for the critical products and suppliers, as necessary.
• Ensure product compliance with contract requirements and applicable regulations.
• Release product for shipment:
• Ensure all deviations are closed.
• Review & accept the supplier End of Manufacturing Reports (EOMR)
• Authorize shipment once all quality requirements have been achieved.
• Management of technical deviations:
• Continuously follow up on punch items and nonconformities resulting from the quality surveillance inspections up to closure
• Capture and/or distribute nonconformities identified at suppliers.
• Drive RCA with suppliers, ensuring CAPAs are implemented, and effectiveness reviews carried out.
• Management of supplier audits:
• Initiate supplier audits as necessary
• Monitor the closure of actions resulting from on-boarding phase and further audit activity.
• Record associated reports and action plans in the supplier database.
