Job Description:
Microchip’s Analog Power and Interface Division (APID) is actively seeking a dynamic Junior Analog Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will engage in the design of analog mixed-signal integrated circuits, with a primary focus on power management solutions such as DC/DC converters (buck, boost, and buck-boost), MOSFETs, motor drivers, and switch-mode controllers. Additionally, you may be involved in designing other circuit types. As a Junior Analog Design Engineer reporting to the APID Lead Analog Design Engineer, you will be based at our state-of-the-art research and development center in Lausanne. Our commitment is to pioneer innovative solutions that fulfill our customers’ immediate and future requirements. Your contributions will be instrumental in advancing the development of our integrated circuits within an inspiring and collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Engage in the design of Analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits in alignment with the Design Objective Specification (DOS).
  • Conduct thorough circuit analysis and simulations to validate that design specifications are achieved.
  • Participate in the silicon validation and debugging stages to confirm the functionality and performance of blocks, chips, and systems against design and implementation goals.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multi-site, cross-functional team setting.
  • Meticulously document work processes, track, record design challenges for future improvements, and follow up as necessary.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 0-2 years of experience in analog or mixed-signal design, including internships or co-op roles.
  • Proficiency in design and simulation tools such as Cadence, Hspice, or equivalent.
  • A solid grasp of transistor-level circuit design and semiconductor physics.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • A proactive attitude towards learning and tackling complex tasks.

Experience in some or all the following is an advantage:

  • Experience with CMOS/Bi-CMOS/SOI processes.
  • Knowledge of programming languages and numerical computing.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML tools.
  • Experience with Design-For-Test (DFT) strategies.
