Location: Remote
Position Description: The .NET Developer performs analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of software and applications. This position supports the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Minimum/General Experience: 5 years of .NET experience in a healthcare environment
Minimum Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other related field

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent experience designing and developing software in healthcare information technology (IT)
  • Excellent experience migrating applications to Microsoft Azure
  • Excellent experience with containerization tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Excellent experience with microservices
  • Excellent understanding of modern software design and development methodologies (e.g., Agile, OO)
  • Experience with Visual Studio, C#, MVC, and .NET Core/Razor
  • Experience developing web services
  • Excellent ability to consistently apply quality and security standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent ability to work effectively in a team and with clients
  • Experience working with Github, Jira (preferred)

  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident that has lived in the United States for at least 3 years

Responsibilities:

  • Follows VIP OI&T Delivery framework and overarching VA guidance (One-VA Technical Reference Model (TRM)
  • Uses POLARIS calendaring tool, VIP Request (VIPR) portal, GitHub, JIRA, and ServiceNow
  • Works with the development team to redevelop existing legacy .NET applications
  • Provides regular updates on development and uses Agile/Scrum methodologies and practices in support of the project
  • Upgrades and migrates legacy code/applications into more modern frameworks
  • Designs back-end and front-end web-based software
  • Designs solutions
  • Contributes to design activities
  • Develops code independently
  • Designs, prepares and executes unit tests
  • Participates in code reviews and may lead code reviews
  • Leads and provides mentoring and guidance to less senior developers
  • Provides and reviews needed documentation changes
