The GCSB’s Technology Directorate are looking for someone to join our team of Network Engineers that work within our Network Operations capability. This opportunity is available to anyone who is looking to be based in Wellington or Blenheim, and will see you engaging regularly with key domestic and international stakeholders.
IT WOULD ALSO BE USEFUL IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH:
Identifying, diagnosing and resolving network issues using a range of tools (debugging, logs PCAPs etc) to support this
Layer 2 and Layer 3 configuration and issues, for example; link aggregation, MTU, routing (OSPF & BGP), OPSEC/MACSEC, PKI (certificates), MPLS, VRFs

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Responsibilities:
As a Network Engineer, you will provide a level of operational support and be responsible for maintaining, and helping to improve, the organisation’s large number of complex networks. Your day-to-day may also see you working on a combination of the below:
Troubleshooting/fixing network faults
Project work
Refreshing network devices
Assisting development teams and architects to aid in future planning
Maintaining current networks
Network devices/firewalls
What are we looking for from you?
You will be a team player, who enjoys collaborative working in an open plan environment. This role will require you to be a confident communicator, as well as have strong problem solving skills, as you will regularly engage with customers to discuss requirements and provide solutions. We are also looking for you to have:
LAN and WAN Troubleshooting skills and a solid understanding of network security
Knowledge of TCIP/IP fundamentals, switching technologies and commonly-used routing protocols
Experience with set up, initial configuration, moves, adds and changes, troubleshooting and resolving issues with a variety of routers, switches and firewalls.
