Pay Range: $62,755 - 103,999 annually
Job Description: Your Piece of the Puzzle
As Nebraska Furniture Mart’s Network Engineer II, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of in-house network systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by the installation, configuration and maintenance of networked systems (e.g., voice, data, wireless, etc). This is a remote position requiring the candidate to reside in one of the following states: NE, IA, MO, KS, or TX.

Job Duties: A Day in the Life

  • Monitor: Maximize network performance by monitoring performance and troubleshooting network problems and outages
  • Maintain: Uphold and enhance job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations
  • Collaborate: Maximize network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architect on network optimization
  • Ensure: Confirm network stability through Installation, setup, and configuring complex switching environments including Cisco Switches, Cisco Wireless Access Points, and Security appliances for access to vital business applications
  • Communicate: Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors to provide technical assistance and support

Qualifications: Can You Check These Boxes?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, related field or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience in network or systems administration or engineering preferred
  • Current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required
  • Working knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Microsoft Windows Servers, AIX, UNIX or Linux a plus
  • Hands on experience and knowledge of Networking: Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables, Racks, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, WLAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, Latency, VolP, QoS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, NHRP, ATM, PPP, MPLS
  • Working technical knowledge of current software protocols, and Internet standards, including TCP/IP, WWW, DNS, SMTP, FTP, Network, and Security Protocols, etc
  • Experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN support and implementation
  • Knowledge of VoIP implementation and support and Cisco Unified Communication – experience with configuration and infrastructure a plus
  • Knowledge of installing, configuring, and maintaining all manners of server hardware, end user devices and associated network equipment.
  • Competence with testing, flowchart, and data mapping tools and procedures, including Microsoft Visio.
  • Ability to obtain additional certifications required by management
  • Ability to respond to needs of the customer for installation, maintenance and equipment malfunctions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and/or early morning hours based on business needs
