Responsibilities:

THIS IS A HYBRID ROLE, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO BE ON-SITE AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK TO MAINTAIN THE DATA CENTRES.

You will work as part of a wider team of circa 20 IT specialists in the Infrastructure, Networks and Middleware teams departments who are accountable for delivering and supporting network solutions that meet customer needs (including the availability, maintenance, and monitoring of Targets server network estate). As the Technical Consultant, you will be responsible for the delivery of a stable, scalable and supported network platform to internal and external customers.
This role involves day to day support as well as project-based work, where you will be exposed to a wide range of technologies and solutions as part of your daily duties.

SOME OF THE DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • To contribute to a strategic vision for Target’s network platform as the organisation moves from traditional on-premise networking to hybrid cloud and software defined networking technologies.
  • Maintain a performance dashboard that helps ensure network supply meets demand as well as ensuring SLA’s are adhered to
  • Continues to develop & improve the network platform by identifying areas for improvements to confidentiality, availability, integrity and efficiency of services.
  • Ensuring availability of Targets Network estate by means of pro-active maintenance, monitoring, upgrading and continuous improvement.
  • Working with the IT Operations and Support Teams and Project Managers to deliver solutions on time and in budget, aligned to client expectations
  • Network Design including liaising with internal teams, suppliers and 3rd parties in refining solutions to requirements.
  • Ensure that Support Tickets are comprehensively noted and updated regularly
  • Use of Automation and scripting to improve efficiencies of solutions, reducing reliance on human interaction to perform regular repeatable tasks.
  • Possessing and developing the ability to methodically isolate and resolve faults, as well as identify problems that impact the wider business.
  • Creation of network diagrams, both physical and logical to ensure that the Network estate is accurately documented
  • Creation and maintenance of technical documentation and fault-finding procedures.
  • The ability to communicate with, at a professional level, Clients, Technical consultants, Project managers and team members.
