Veolia New Zealand operates and maintains the water and wastewater infrastructure in Queenstown. We are looking for someone to join our Team as a Network Manager, responsible for ensuring all pipeline and associated infrastructure are operated effectively, planned and reactive maintenance are carried out to ensure pipeline networks and infrastructure are always in compliance, running effectively and efficiently.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Combination of education, training and experience.
  • Civil Engineer or trade qualification
  • People management qualification
  • Computer literacy.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years supervisory experience - 3 waters infrastructure experience.
  • Exposure to the water and/or process industry and basic understanding of various water treatment technologies and processes is preferable.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues and contractors.
  • Ability to fault find on mechanical equipment.
  • Proven problem solving skills and proposed methodologies.

OTHER RELEVANT SKILLS OR INFORMATION:

  • Knowledge of wastewater or water operations
  • Understanding of the criticality of operational requirements and resource consent compliance.
  • Understanding of the commercial nature of the operations of Veolia.
  • Ability to organise resources, establish priorities and meet deadlines through balancing commitments and priorities.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy, computing, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and contractors.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with an aptitude for both office and field work.
  • Motivation and enthusiasm, a keen eye for detail and a desire for excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

The role is responsible for the managing and coordinating resources to ensure the conveyance of safe drinking water and the collection and conveyance of wastewater by skilled operators completing their tasks safely, delivering the expected quality and being within budget. Key responsibilities are as follows;

  • Contractual and regulatory compliance - meeting safety and quality standards
  • Ensuring an effective and resourced roster is maintained for routine and planned maintenance of all facilities, assets, and plant and equipment.
  • Identifying, resolving and escalating maintenance challenges
  • Coordinating and corrective maintenance including the management of sub contractors
  • Managing suppliers
  • Undertaking designated management and reporting duties.
  • Assisting and supporting in the achievement of staff development plans.
  • Working with internal staff, sharing of knowledge and skills.
  • Organising / Ordering consumables, materials and spares.
  • Developing and maintaining an effective On-Call duty operator Roster.
  • Contribute to the management of Health and Safety, Quality Assurance and Environmental Management Systems, while applying these procedures in all aspects of work,

  • Adhere to all written and verbal instructions, procedures and information issued by Veolia relating to both health and safety and environmental issues and with all relevant clauses of the Integrated Business Management System Manual,
  • Comply with the requirements of the company’s business management system and the Quality Policy for drinking water, wastewater treatment and disposal to contribute to the company’s commitment to provide safe, high quality drinking water and wastewater services that consistently meets or exceeds the requirements of the Contracts,
  • All employees are responsible for reporting any problems with the business management system, particularly in relation to the management of occupational health and safety, environment and drinking water,
  • To undertake such general duties as and when required for the effective provision of services to the client.
