As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is proudly working to transform the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project, and we are hiring for hundreds of roles. The GO Expansion scope: new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience in networking or telecommunication
  • 10+ years experience
  • P. Eng certification or in progress

Responsibilities:

Multi-disciplinary environment working with the design, engineering, and the commissioning of integrated radio and TCP/IP networks. Solutions utilize licensed and unlicensed voice and data radios, LAN/WAN networks, and back office servers as well as other communication links between locomotives, between locomotives and wayside equipment, and/or between wayside and central office locations:

  • Knowledge of network hardware including servers, routers, and other computer devices
  • Use system requirements to design and deploy networks and virtual solutions
  • Develop testing, verification, and validation procedures as well as execute the procedures
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Create and maintain documentation including System Functional Specifications and Interface Control Documents
  • Trace system requirements to DOORS
  • Produce Verification & Validation (V&V) test plans under the supervision of Project V&V Leader
  • Produce requirement based V&V procedures and datasheets
  • Author Project V&V test reports
  • Execute and lead V&V testing across multiple platforms
  • Perform verification reports for requirements, design documents, test reports, etc
  • Follow V&V technical processes in line with business objectives for technical and project team environment
  • Document test results, identify problems and solutions, and communicate with Engineering
  • Perform Communications Engineering tasks in support of program objectives
  • Trace system requirements to DOORS
  • Understanding of of system and subsystem-level requirements
  • Develop & peer review test procedures and documentation to validate system requirements
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Network troubleshooting
  • Ensure Data Communication System project team members are aligned with V&V plan
  • Ensure documents be delivered as per project Documentation plan (Documentation Master List) in line with project Development For Quality Gate Reviews milestones
  • Participate in radio and network design activities
  • Participate upon request to Installation and Test & Commissioning activities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
