Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the New-born Hearing Screening Service; we are looking to recruit 1 New-born Hearing Screener to be based at Royal Victoria Infirmary.
The successful candidate would be required to perform and facilitate the new-born hearing screening programme within the maternity units and clinics in accordance with National and Local protocols. The successful candidate would also be required to organise outpatient appointments to ensure good coverage by the screening service.
The role involves direct handling of new-born babies, contact with parents and liaising with other health professionals. Therefore, the successful candidate will be required to have good communication and interpersonal skills.

Full training will be given and would need to complete Health screening qualification when in post.
To perform and facilitate the new-born hearing screening programme in the Maternity Units and selected out-reach clinics in accordance with National and Local protocols. To organise out patient appointments to ensure good coverage by the screening service.
The job involves direct handling of new-born babies, contact with parents and liaising with other health professionals.
New-born hearing screeners will liaise with midwifery staff at their base maternity unit on a daily basis. Hearing screeners will report professionally to the Hearing Screening Coordinator.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of 12 New-born hearing screeners in total based at Royal Victoria Infirmary as a hearing screening programme we provide the hearing screening programme for the whole of the North of Tyne area which includes working occasionally at our Northumbria base at The Northumbria hospital in Cramlington and a number of outreach clinic across Northumberland and North Tyneside.
