Description:

The New Building Project Engineer is responsible for supporting design and engineering activities within the MSC New Building Programme, working in close cooperation with the Project Director for the proper monitoring and management of the relevant Project. The role will support all contract activities across vessels under design and construction, working with colleagues and stakeholders within MSC, 3rd party consultants and the relevant shipyard to ensure the successful delivery of projects within the MSC New Building Programme. A key part of the role is to provide and support a seamless flow of information across the multiple departments and stakeholders involved in the project, between Head Office, Site Office, and Shipyard Project teams. The role will require visits to shipyards and the premises of subcontractors to carry out supporting works as necessary.

  • Language: English (fluent both written and spoken)
  • Degree in Naval Architecture and\/or Marine Engineering is required
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a cruise operator, shipyard or engineering company
  • Demonstrable strong AutoCAD \/ MicroStation drafting skills is required
  • Project Administration & Support
  • Fluent in communicating and summarising issues
  • Availability to travel as when required.
  • Provides design and engineering support as part of all project lifecycle activities
  • Supports the document management regarding the flow of all design documentation between the Yard to the Head Office.
  • Supports prototyping and revision of design and architecture through CAD drafting
  • Contributes engineering expertise to design, plan approval, construction, and inspection processes
  • Supports Project Director with project management activities including reporting, risk and issue management
  • Supports Project Director in liaising with the various stakeholders within the Company and in pre-empting material needed for the periodical Board meetings
  • Supports Site Team Inspectors with FAT, Inspections and other protocols as required
  • Supports delivery and warranty periods, co-ordinating resolutions and managing stakeholders, cooperating with the relevant Guarantee Engineers.
  • Documents and communicates lessons learned
  • Liaises with Ship personnel during vessel visits (i.e. Staff Captain, HME, etc).
