  A modern, family-owned practice located in beautiful coastal Queensland is seeking a professional, passionate and caring small animal veterinarian to become part of the team.
  On offer is as much on-site training, guidance and support as required, plus 24-hour phone support from the principal vet.
  Hours are very flexible and negotiable. The role can be full or part-time. The employers are also open to hearing from those interested in FIFO or 7 and 7 roster work. After-hours can be negotiable.
  The purpose-built clinic is well-equipped with all the modern toys, including an ultrasound machine, digital x-ray, in-house blood machines, full anaesthetic monitoring equipment (including ETCO2, ECG, NIBP), two dedicated surgical suites, dedicated dental theatre and dental x-ray, separate dog waiting areas, consult rooms and wards, ICU, isolate ward and more!

  I came to the practice for a locum stint and found a practice and veterinary team that I wanted to stay with forever.
  The team is cohesive and efficient. The qualified nurses, trainees, receptionists and support staff are friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Standard operating procedures are well rehearsed, and I feel this aids in the smooth running of the hospital.
  The caseload is about as varied as you could wish for, with plenty of ‘higher-end’ work if desired. In my experience, all the clients have been respectful and grateful. Weekend work is shared and provides an interesting emergency caseload varying from medical to trauma.
  The hospital is modern, aesthetically pleasing, structurally well designed, spotlessly clean and really well equipped; nothing held together with Elastoplast! There’s all the regular diagnostic kit you’d expect, plus a heap of extras. Every detail has been paid attention to in terms of equipment and consumables.
  There’s a staffed creche, a designated lunch room and also quiet areas for phone calls and reading up.
  I cannot speak highly enough of this practice, and in fact, as I’m writing this blurb, I’m wondering if I should just bite the bullet and move up here!
  The town is really welcoming. The air is warm and clear all year round. The locals stop and talk to you. The town is serviced by more restaurants than you could eat at if you ate out every night for a month (trust me, I tried!). There are a couple of shopping malls with a Woolies in one and a Coles in the other, a cinema, a Big W, plenty of clothes shops and a beautiful marina with regular ferries to and from the nearby Island.
  The town also has a good mix of drinking establishments and cafes and a vibrant social scene; there are local workshops catering for everything from beginner choral singing to natural skincare making, young fishing enthusiasts, skateboarders and equestrians. There’s also a busy arts scene with local artists displaying their work within galleries in the town, and for music lovers, there are multiple venues throughout the week showcasing live music. The seafront has good infrastructure, with all the seating, eating, play and entertainment areas you would expect of an Aussie coastal town.
  Locally, there is a real community feel, with many upcoming events listed in the local free paper. To name a few, there’s a regular ‘produce swap’ market, park run, trivia, and community gardening meet-up.
  If I was to describe the area, I’d say it’s a coastal town with a low-key, laid-back vibe and burgeoning growth of affluent workers and some younger retirees. It’s a town as yet untouched by tourism but well set up in terms of infrastructure to deal with a big increase in population density.
