The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Innovation, the New Product Development Manager will be integral in partnering closely with Sales, Operations, Commercial, Procurement, RA, QA, and Master Data to help support NPD launches for all formats and categories in a timely manner and develop a process to streamline our NPD business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support Director of Innovation in managing the category New Product Roadmap.
  • Develop, coordinate and manage new product timelines from concept to launch, on-time.
  • Design, test and develop new products with CMO partners & Internal collaborators.
  • Work with operations to find cost reductions, continuous product Improvements.
  • Maintain project timeline and critical paths tracking against launch dates and critical milestones.
  • Create and manage change controls, product specifications and QMS related documentation.
  • Manage internal processes (documentation, reporting, and analysis) to deliver innovations in as timely and cost-effective manner as possible.
  • Coordinate tech transfers from R&D to Operations and/or Engineering for pilot production.
  • Develop Bill of Materials for new products and ensuring complete and total accuracy in our ERP system
  • Prepare label briefs for the Labels & Packaging team and ensure execution that aligns with the project schedule and launch timelines.
  • Provide product details to the commercial team to assist in Board listings and product pitches.
  • Document and inform management on issues early and clearly before they become a revenue risk
  • Speak the language of the technical teams so that you can engage and translate technical language into consumer language and reasons-to-believe.
  • Support weekly product meetings by communicating and updating on project status with teams, ensuring cross functional awareness of timeline and tasks are being met. Frequently communicates opportunities and risks.
  • Prioritize projects and resources based on timeline and business impact
  • Bring an entrepreneurial, solutions orientated mindset and approach to daily tasks and problem solving.
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience

  • 5+ years of work experience in project management, product development, product innovation, product strategy & technology management
  • Superior organization skills.
  • Knowledge of project governance frameworks and best practices
  • Clear understanding of cannabis regulatory frameworks
  • Strong understanding of Cannabis products, technologies and manufacturing
  • Previous experience with innovation, including technical implementation, communication, and navigating organizations through change
  • Experience In engineering, manufacturing or scientific roles and/or Industries
  • Experience working in a regulated environment such as GMP, HACCP, ISO, GFSI, with strong working knowledge of SOPs, master batch records, and other quality systems an asset
  • Ability to execute on accountabilities, personal leadership and customer focus
  • Proven ability to stay organized and prioritize work for efficient operations
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to key stakeholders; document issues and/or concerns clearly and before they become a risk; assess options cross-functionally and articulate well-reasoned recommendations for leadership endorsement; adjust style, language, and/or terminology appropriate for the audience.
  • Superior communication, leadership and teamworking skills
