ABOUT US

Become a part of a leading not-for-profit organisation dedicated to making a positive impact in the housing sector. We are committed to addressing housing issues and supporting vulnerable populations by offering affordable and sustainable housing solutions to individuals and families in need.
At CHL, our primary goal is to create safe, secure, and affordable housing options that empower individuals and families to thrive. With a focus on delivering high-quality service and outcomes, we manage over 11,000 new and existing properties across various communities. The CHL Group is driven by a collaborative team culture where every member plays a vital role in achieving our mission.
CHL is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and a public benevolent institution.

Responsibilities:

CHL is seeking to appoint an appropriately experienced and skilled independent Non-Executive Director (NED) to one of its subsidiary Boards - Community Housing (Tas) Ltd (CHTL). As a valued member of our organisation, the NED will be part of our highly qualified and experienced Board. They will be given the opportunity to confer with key stakeholders involved in the delivery of housing services to make a real difference.

The NED will play a vital role in corporate governance with a wide range of responsibilities including:

  • Providing experienced, sound advice to the Chair and CEO
  • Contributing to the development of strategy and providing constructive scrutiny of policies, proposals and plans developed by CHTL.
  • Understanding financial information reported and management of operational risk, including accountability for services provided and public funds used.
  • Advancing the Group’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to strive to create workplaces and service deliveries that are culturally safe and inviting.

The role requires attending approximately 6-10 board meetings per year. As some meetings will be held in person, and an in-depth knowledge of community housing in the state is required, candidates must reside in Tasmania.
Directors’ fees will be paid in accordance with company policy.
Applications close 8th July 2024.
