An outstanding opportunity exists for an experienced Non-Executive Director with strengths in Master Planning & Precinct Development; Asset Management & Property Development and Public Private Partnership expertise to join the Board.
An outstanding opportunity exists for an experienced Non-Executive Director (of 5) to contribute to the continued growth and success of Dandenong Market.
Dandenong Market, located in Australia’s most culturally diverse municipality, is Melbourne’s second oldest and largest municipal market. For over 150 years, it has been a community hub offering a wide range of goods—from fresh produce and meats to clothing and collectibles. The market is also a hotspot for global street food, frequently hosting large-scale cultural festivals. Operated by Dandenong Market Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of the City of Greater Dandenong, it follows a best-practice governance structure. While it aims for commercial success, the market also seeks to serve its diverse community and contribute both economically and culturally.
This role is an initial three-year term and will appeal to an experienced, AICD-qualified, Non-Executive Director who enjoys working with and contributing to a highly collaborative and supportive Board. There are a minimum of eight Board meetings per financial year (4 in-person and 4 virtual) and a minimum of 4 Audit & Risk Committee meetings as well as events relevant to the role.
We are seeking expressions of interest from candidates who can demonstrate relevant Board experience, and excellent communication skills underpinned with the ability and motivation to contribute to the growth and performance of this thriving community-based organisation.

Key areas of skills, knowledge and experience being sought for the upcoming vacancy on the Board are:

  • Master Planning & Precinct Development
  • Asset Management & Property Development
  • Public Private Partnership expertise

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Interested candidates will need to demonstrate experience in:
» Governance and Board / Committee procedures
» Risk identification and management
» Internal and external audit procedures and controls
» Compliance
» Financial analysis and reporting
» Legal and statutory requirements of Australian companies
» Hold relevant tertiary qualifications.
It is desirable that a director:
» Has demonstrated achievement in strong results in corporate leadership at a senior level.
» Holds postgraduate or professional qualifications.
» Be a Graduate or Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
This is a remunerated role.
Ideally, candidates will be geographically accessible to Dandenong.
