JOB SUMMARY

To prepare and circulate statutory notices governed by the Planning Act, Heritage Act and other Provincial legislation within prescribed timelines ensuring appropriate stakeholders are properly notified.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • High School graduate combined with additional training in business or legal field with a minimum of two year’s experience in a similar position
  • Previous experience with maintaining Official Plan amendments, Secondary Plans and zoning files
  • Knowledge of the Planning Act as it relates to public hearings and by-laws passed by Council and ability to interpret and comply with requirements of the Planning Act.
  • Well developed word processing skills and experience in Excel required.
  • Experience using eScribe, Cayenta and Geologic applications would be an asset
  • Exceptional time management skills including the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work.
  • Extremely accurate and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of circulation lists and the distribution of notices to the public, government ministries, stakeholders if required, regarding public meetings, the passing of by-laws, etc for example : Notice of Complete Applications, Public Meeting Notices, Notice of Passing of Zoning By-laws, Notice of Approval of Draft Plan of Subdivision/Draft Plan of Condominiums, Notice of Adoption of Official Plan Amendments, Notice of Heritage Designation and Notice of OLT Pre-hearing/hearing.
  • Arrange external advertising of notices; Prepare Public Meeting e-Agenda and publish using eScribe
  • Maintain Official Plan amendment, Secondary Plan and zoning files
  • Up-date amendments to zoning by-laws
  • Provide back-up support for meetings as required
  • Provide back-up coverage for functions under Vital Statistics and Marriage Acts
  • Provide clerical assistance during the Municipal Election period
  • Other duties as assigned
