About the role
We’re seeking an ITS Operations Engineer to help change how we travel.
You’ll be a key member of an innovative, world leading Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) team developing the brightest ideas and most inspired engineering into safer, more efficient, and more sustainable Transport Technology solutions. ensuring the smooth and safe flow of traffic over Sydney’s traffic corridors.
As an ITS Operations Engineer you will be part of a highly innovative team, who are responsible for ongoing support, maintenance, minor upgrade, and projects of regional asset Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
Day-to-day, you will:

Provide guidance and direction to sub- contractors and other teams, to resolve and escalate system faults, conduct maintenance and restoration works. You will also;

  • Act as an escalation point, and provide 24/7 1st and 2nd level support to our Traffic Control and Operations Centres – you’ll maintain applications, client operation systems, desktop equipment, server equipment, specialised systems and networked systems
  • Act as an escalation point, and provide 24/7 support to our Data Centre Infrastructure – you’ll be required to troubleshoot and manage applications, server infrastructure, specialised systems and networked systems
  • Ensure our ITS Systems are performing to their availability and reliability targets
  • Provide 1st and 2nd level support to Electronic Tolling Collection Systems
  • Provide support to Electronic Tolling Collection Systems through the maintenance and administration of Roadside Tolling Systems and participate in closures
  • Ensure the operational integrity of all systems by conducting routine system backups, system recovery and media recycling procedures
  • Monitor and maintain all sorts of specialised equipment including PABXs and Trunked radio, data network equipment, CCTV equipment, Traffic Flow Systems, PLCs and Building Security System

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:

  • You’ve worked in a similar role maintaining critical systems in electrical, electronic or IT system support
  • You’ve worked in a similar role managing and maintaining critical systems infrastructure
  • Degree qualification within an IT, Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering discipline
  • Experience with Systems & Network Administration (including but not limited to Virtualization, Storage, Backups, Patching, Scripting, Firewalls, Switches)
  • Analytical and incisive, you’ll spot issues and use your own ingenuity
  • You’ll be organised, efficient and decisive in in prioritising the tasks that count, pressure doesn’t faze you
  • A natural problem solver and people person, you’ll communicate well with contractors,
  • You have a license to drive – you love everything about our roads after all
