Join the Communicable Disease, Population & Public Health (CDPPH) department within the Office of the Chief Nursing Officer (OCNO) at the Fist Nations Health Authority. Working in collaboration, the CDPPH teams strive to bring Public Health and Communicable Disease education, training, resources and support to Community Health Nurses working in First Nation communities across the Province.
Title: Communicable Disease Emergencies (CDE) Nurse Advisor
Salary: $86,981 – $101,370 per year (pay range explained below)*
Contract: Term until – March 31, 2025
Hours: 37.5 Hours, Monday – Friday (core hours 9am – 3pm)
Location: Sinclair Office, Downtown Vancouver – Hybrid (50% in office) & Remote work will be considered for the right candidate. Please note, this role will be relocating to our new office building in North Vancouver on Tsleil-Waututh Nation (TWN) land, south of Mount Seymour Parkway, summer 2025.
Bargaining Unit: PIPSC BCFNHA Group (Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada)
- The FNHA is engaged in active collective agreement negotiations and rates of pay will be adjusted to reflect 2024 rates in the near future.
EXPERIENCE
- Two (2) years of experience in public health or emergency response programming and experience working with First Nations people, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Communicable Disease Emergency (CDE) Nurse Advisor works with the CDC Nurse Specialist, CD Management to establish, coordinate and support Community CDE response programs. The CDE Nurse Advisor acts as a resource for health directors, community leadership and healthcare personnel in First Nations communities regarding CDE and provides assistance to individual Communities, Health Centres and Nursing Stations for CDE programs. You will Provide capacity-building CDE consulting services and support to FNHA partners and First Nations Communities, including direction and support to complete CDE planning as part of the Community Health and Wellness Plan cycle.
To be successful in this role you will have/be –
- Bachelor of Nursing with a community health component
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNM) is required
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification is require
