    Newcastle Private is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager for our Anaesthetics Department, with excellent leadership skills and a passion for delivering high quality patient care to join our team on a Full-time Basis.
    As Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) you will assist the Perioperative Manager in being responsible for providing leadership direction to the Anaesthetics team to support the strategic direction, operational processes, budget and business direction of the hospital.

Come and join our expert team of surgeons, specialist doctors, dedicated nurses and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private Hospital. We are a 189 bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospital has 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit.
We also have a cardiac suite including a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite including 6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery is available for families in the Newcastle region. Newcastle Private Oncology Centre provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the department to complement the strategic direction, operational processes, budget and business direction of the hospital
  • Provide operational direction for the unit to ensure efficient and effective management of the area and coordinate the delivery of the nursing care that is evidence based
  • Be accountable and responsible for the effective management of human, financial and material resources and ensure the customer service is maintained at optimal levels
  • Undertake direct patient care as required providing guidance and support to less experienced members of nursing team
  • Work as part of the healthcare team, adhere to Healthscope and site policies and procedures and key performance indicators
  • Participate in working parties/committees and demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality improvements through NSQHS, workplace health and safety and achievement of hospital accreditation
