Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

The purpose of the Nursing Unit Manager is to manage, lead and organise the nursing and wider multi-disciplinary team across the Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit and the Recovery Centre to enable good patient flow process, step up and step down facilitation and to work with the support teams to enable the right care at the right time. The role of the NUM is to ensure all staff are practicing in accordance with AHPRA regulations, the code of conduct and the core Values of NSW Health as well as:

  • Lead and co-ordinate the nursing and multi-disciplinary care team at the ward or unit level.
  • Monitor and manage the business and management functions and processes of the ward or unit.
  • As the leader of the unit, the NUM will demonstrate their capability through attitude, skills, behaviour, and attributes.
  • Demonstrate broad nursing/midwifery experience and knowledge.
  • Understanding and acceptance that patients are the central focus of service delivery.
  • Demonstrate professional integrity; ethical conduct, accountability, advocacy, enabling others.
  • Cultivation of collaborative relationships and effective teamwork.
