Western Private Hospital (WPH), is a boutique private hospital located in Footscray servicing the West of Melbourne with the provision of acute services which has 62 inpatient beds.
We are fully equipped for a comprehensive range of surgical procedures including general, bariatric, oral max, colorectal, endoscopy, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic, gynaecology, plastics, vascular and urology, as well as diagnostic and interventional cardiology and high dependency services.

About the Role
We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Nurse Unit Manager with proven management skills in an acute surgical and medical ward setting.
The Overnight Ward & Day Procedure Unit comprises of 26 overnight beds principally providing care for overnight elective surgical and medical patients, and 6 day recliners with a fast paced and dynamic throughput of day surgical procedures.
You will provide leadership and direction for the overall coordination of patient care and nursing staff management of the Marion Ward, with the objective of achieving best practice outcomes from both a customer and business perspective.
In this role you will be required to provide strategic direction as well as oversee budgets and coordinate evidence-based nursing care to our patients. The role requires an adaptive leader with strong managerial, communication and conflict resolution skills and will also require you to step into clinical duties when necessary.

You will have exceptional communication skills and a passion for delivering excellent client care and customer service; and the knowledge and ability to manage clinical risk and implementing process improvements.
Selection Criteria
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, Division 1
At least 4 years’ nursing management experience in an acute surgical care setting in Australia
Postgraduate studies in management qualifications will be highly regarded
HDU background will be highly regarded
Experience in clinical coordination, patient flow, bed and staff management with advanced clinical knowledge, skills and practice
Act as positive model and leader in the unit, facilitating individual and team growth and development
Proven ability to successfully lead and motivate a clinical services team providing strong strategic direction and positive leadership to achieve results through people; driving change, coaching, developing, and mentoring to maximise performance and desired outcomes
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team inc. Surgeons, Anaesthetists, Nurses and Allied Support staff, to ensure best practice and quality patient outcomes
High level knowledge of clinical governance principles and demonstrated working knowledge of clinical documentation requirements relevant to the role and ability to lead accreditation and continuous improvement processes to achieve sound outcomes; operational knowledge and skills of NSQHS standards and competencies
Excellent computer literacy MS Office applications and patient management systems
Familiarity with health funds, Medicare, DVA, WorkCover and third-party requirements in a private hospital
REQUIREMENTS:
