This is a rare opportunity for two Room Leaders to join a very special nursery based in Bagshot, Surrey. The Nursery was established over 20 years ago and has charitable status, meaning any profit is invested back into the nursery itself. They have a very friendly, caring and hard-working culture and most of their team have been with them for many years.
The Nursery offer large, spacious rooms, each tailored to the different age groups of children and feature a sensory room and large indoor and outdoor areas for lots of activities.

Responsibilities:

ROLES:

  • Room Leader for the Baby Room (0-2 years)
  • Room leader for the Pre-school Room (3-5 years)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To adhere to all Safeguarding policies and procedures. To be able to demonstrate a firm knowledge of all safeguarding practices.
  • To report any safeguarding concerns to the DSL immediately, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • To support staff in the delivery of high-quality opportunities to ensure the children make good progress in all areas of their learning and development.
  • To work as part of a team to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, develop and learn maintaining effective lines of communication at all times.
  • To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care and development for children.
  • To be responsible for promoting equality of opportunities and ensure inclusive practice.
  • To ensure all the policies and procedures are followed by all staff.
  • To be responsible for any tasks delegated by the Manager and management team.
  • To give support to other staff, volunteers and students within the room.
  • To implement the daily routine in the room ensuring all requirements of the Statutory Framework are being met.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the setting’s ethos is fulfilled.
  • To establish and maintain a safe and secure environment for all children, and colleagues.
  • To build and maintain strong partnership working with parents.
  • To ensure all staff have an understanding and implement British Values and positive behaviour.
  • To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safer running of the setting.
  • To act as a key person, providing professional support to parents/carers and other staff in conjunction with the manager.
  • To settle new children into the nursery following the settling in procedure and liaising with the parents about the child’s likes/dislikes and any specific needs.
  • As a key person, update allocated individual development records, maintaining confidentiality at all times such as assessment records and children’s Care Plans, liaising closely with the SENCO to provide support for children with SEND.
  • To plan a range of activities, appropriate to the children’s age and stages of development (linking to Early Years Foundation Stage).
  • To be aware of the children’s social, emotional and wellbeing needs and provide appropriate fun and stimulating experiences to encourage independence.
  • To participate in curriculum planning and implementation providing an effective learning environment, meeting OFSTED requirements and the EYFS.
  • To ensure the physical wellbeing of the children by meeting individual care and needs for example nappy changing, toilet training and hygiene.
  • To assist with supervision of the children at mealtimes and follow strategies to promote good manners, behaviour and an understanding of healthy eating.
  • Administer first aid and prescription medication when necessary following set guidelines within the appropriate policies and procedures.
  • To undertake continuous professional development and participate in team meetings such as staff and room meetings within and outside working hours.
  • To contribute as a member of the team and maintain effective lines of communication.
  • Adhere to the nurseries Behaviour code of adults working with children policy.
  • To adhere to the nursery dress code.
  • To attend Parent’s Evening and any fundraising events outside of working hours.
  • To supervise and mentor new members of staff and students.
  • To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times. Conduct a daily risk assessment to ensure the environment is safe for children and staff to access, including outside areas.
  • To report to the Manager or Management team, any repairs or renewals relating to equipment, stock, surfaces, etc,
  • To inform Management of any additional resources required for the room.
  • To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their family’s or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
