We have an exciting recruitment event for Nursing Assistants for our Kingsley Ward at Hollins Park Hospital in Warrington. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend our recruitment event on 15 June where you will be given an overview of the service.
Our ward provides a high standard of assessment and treatment to those with Dementia and BPSD (Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia).
You will gain valuable experience and skills across the field of Dementia, incorporating both physical and mental health.
You will be motivated to make a real difference in the lives of people living with dementia, where passion, empathy, strong communication and excellent teamwork are essential qualities for this role.
Previous experience working in a care related role is essential, preferably working with those who have dementia.
The role of a Health Care Assistant is vital to ensure we deliver safe, high-quality care to our service users.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the physical, emotional psychological and spiritual care of service users under the supervision of a registered nurse. Work within a team to manage risk and the implementation of the service user’s care plan.
- Provide information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated.
- Help with the involvement of service users, and carers/relatives in the delivery of care.
- Provide support and assistance with relatives/carers, directing them to the appropriate professional.
- Assist in providing care and support to service users with a range of personal needs. These will include as directed hygiene/dressing, support with dietary and fluid intake and ensuring optimum comfort with an emphasis on a person-cantered approach.
- Complete physical observations, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, weight and basic tests, urinalysis, blood glucose and report the results.
- Assist with health promotion activities as directed.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent medical and psychiatric emergency situations.
- Provide an escort to service users for specific appointments or treatment as requested by the nurse in charge.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills when interacting with service user’s utilising both verbal and non-verbal communication. The use of observational skills and de-escalation techniques to avert challenging situations
